Orting in Pictures This photograph is the left half of a panorama showing the view towards the southeast from the proposed site of the new high school. (The right half of the panorama can be seen on page five.) This panorama was taken from just off the lower-left corner of the aerial photograph on page one and presents a ground's-eye view of the same scene. The snow-covered cone of Mount Rainier dominates the distant skyline. The houses in the middle distance are on the outskirts of Orting. The slope at left is the north wall of the Carbon-Puyallup River valley. The top of the slope is about 100 meters above the valley floor. Photo: Dr. Stephen M. Pompea, Pompea & Associates.
