August 1997 ETE was selected to appear in the scientific metadirectory SciCentral, based on ETE's compilation of specialized Web resources. SciCentral's mission is to identify and link to the very best directories pertaining to specific science and engineering research disciplines. SciCentral caters primarily to a professional audience. Less than 7% of the sites SciCentral reviews are retained for indexing on their site.

December 1996 ETE was honored to be chosen site of the week by the Geological Survey of Canada (Atlantic). The award is given for excellence in earth sciences content on the Web.
