Sensing: Habitat Radio collars have been used by wildlife biologists in southern Florida to study the habitat range of the Florida Panther. The biologists catch the panthers, put radio collars on them, and release them. The biologists then fly over southern Florida in helicopters with radio receivers. They pin point the location of each panther and mark it on a map. Wildlife biologists can compare these range maps to maps of other data like landuse maps. Such comparisons help wildlife biologist determine the landuse patterns that panthers like, as well as those that panthers avoid. Panther range data courtesy of Panther Net.
